Saturday Free Wine Tasting, May 19, 2-4pm: Baillie-Grohman

Located in in a unique microclimate in the Kootenays, specifically Creston, Baillie-Grohman specializes in small productions of cool-climate varietals.  This boutique winery produces less than 5000 cases a year and, according to their website, "everything is done by hand, from the farming to picking and sorting at harvest." Please join us this Saturday, May 19, from 2 to 4 pm to sample three of their latest releases.

Free Saturday Wine Tasting, May 12, 2-4pm: Mission Hill

Mission Hill definitely doesn't need much of an introduction. This Okanagan winery has been a giant in BC for decades now, offering well-made wines at a number of different price points. We will be sampling three offerings from their Reserve series and one from their value-priced Five Vineyards line (made with grapes from the winery's multiple vineyards scattered throughout the Okanagan). Join us this Saturday, May 12, from 2 to 4 pm to sample these excellent Mission Hill selections.

Free Saturday Wine Tasting, April 28, 2-4pm: Arrowleaf

Open since 2003, Arrowleaf Cellars winery has firmly established itself as a reliable producer of fine Okanagan-grown wines (that also sell for a reasonable price). Owned and operated by Swiss expats Joe and Margaret Zuppiger and their son, Manuel, there is a definite European influence in the wines they make.

In fact, the four wines we'll be pouring will give you a good indicator of their range and style. Stop in Saturday April 28, from 2 to 4 pm, and taste for yourself!

Tix Now Available for Victoria Wine Society "Best of Chile" Event, April 30


Tickets are now available for the next Victoria Wine Society event, which will be held Monday, April 30, at 7 pm at Hotel Rialto (1450 Douglas St). This will be the "Best of Chile" tasting, which was the feature country at the Vancouver Winefest.  Sharon McLean and Treve Ring will be the guest speakers.

Free Saturday Wine Tasting, April 21, 2-4pm: Red Rooster

Originally started by Prudence and Beat Mahrer in the '90s, Red Rooster's first vintage was 1997. The Mahrers established a good reputation for this Naramata Bench winery before selling it to Andrew Peller, Ltd. in 2005. Today, Red Rooster carries on that reputation with the skill of its young winemaker Karen Gillis. Stop in this Saturday, April 21, from 2 to 4 pm, to try three new 2011 releases and one reserve red.
